Driving Licence verification allows businesses to validate the authenticity and details of an individual’s Driving Licence by accessing official government records. The verification process confirms licence type such as Light Motor Vehicle or Transport, issuance and expiry dates, personal information, photo, and addresses including both temporary and permanent. This verification method can be used when Aadhaar-based address verification isn’t available or doesn’t provide sufficient information for user onboarding.

Merchant dashboard flow

You can verify driving licences directly through the Cashfree Merchant Dashboard using the following steps:
  1. Log in to the Merchant Dashboard using your credentials.
  2. Navigate to Other Official Documents > Driving Licence.
  3. Enter the licence number and date of birth, and click Verify.
  4. Review the returned driving licence details, including address and holder information.

Batch verification via dashboard

To verify driving licences in batches using the Merchant Dashboard:
  1. Log in to the Merchant Dashboard.
  2. Select Upload File under Driving Licence section.
  3. Upload CSV with multiple licence numbers and DOBs.
  4. Retrieve verification results in bulk.

Smart OCR for driving licence

You can verify driving licence (DL) details by uploading a scanned copy or a clear photo of the licence using Smart OCR. The steps to use Smart OCR for verification are as follows:
  1. Log in to the Merchant Dashboard.
  2. Upload a scanned driving licence card or a high-quality image of the front side.
Smart OCR automatically detects the document type as a driving licence and extracts important fields such as:
  • Driving licence number
  • Full name of the licence holder
  • Date of birth and gender
  • Father’s or husband’s name
  • Date of issue and validity
  • Issuing RTO or authority
  • Licence holder address
  • Vehicle class or category authorised to drive
  • Embedded QR or barcode details, if present
Verification results are displayed instantly on the Merchant Dashboard.
