Voter ID verification enables businesses to instantly validate the authenticity of an individual’s voter ID (EPIC) number directly against India’s official electoral records. This allows businesses to fetch complete voter details, including assembly and parliamentary constituency information. This solution is a strong alternative to Aadhaar verification, helping reduce drop-offs in onboarding flows where Aadhaar is unavailable or insufficient.

Merchant dashboard flow

You can verify voter IDs directly through the Cashfree Merchant Dashboard using the following steps:
  1. Log in to the Merchant Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Other Official Documents > Voter ID.
  3. Enter the voter ID number and click Verify.
  4. Review the returned details, including constituency information and holder data.

Batch verification via dashboard

To verify voter IDs in batches using the Merchant Dashboard:
  1. Log in to the Merchant Dashboard.
  2. Select Upload File under Voter ID section.
  3. Upload CSV containing multiple EPIC numbers.
  4. Retrieve verification results in bulk.

Smart OCR for voter ID

You can verify voter ID details by uploading a scanned copy or a clear photo of the voter ID card using Smart OCR. The steps to use Smart OCR for verification are as follows:
  1. Log in to the Merchant Dashboard.
  2. Upload a scanned voter ID card (front side) or a high-quality image.
  3. Smart OCR automatically detects the document type as a voter ID and extracts important fields such as:
    • Voter ID number (EPIC number)
    • Full name of the cardholder
    • Gender
    • Date of birth or age
    • Father’s or mother’s or husband’s name
    • Address
    • Assembly constituency and state details
    • Issuing authority and signature details
    • QR code data if present in newer voter ID formats
  4. Verification results are displayed instantly on the Merchant Dashboard.
